Sve je počelo tako što je poznati menadžer Teča Morales tražio pet lepih momaka za boy bend...

Ma jok,ovako je to bilo.

Da bismo otkrili korene nastanka ATHEIST RAP-a treba se vratiti u daleke 80-te.kada su se neki od budućih članova benda neizlečivo zarazili pankom. Tada su sa svojom ekipom oformili FLUOREL TAČKAŠ,bend koji je žario i palio po novosadskim fiskulturnim salama,po kojima se tada često sviralo. Posle nadasve preteranog koncerta Ramba Amadeusa na novosadskom MAŠINCU 29.11.1988. dva gradska frika,dr.Pop i Pećinko pokreću inicijativu za stvaranje benda. Iz već pomenutog Tačkaša u Ateiste dolaze Radule(gitara) i Zare(bass), a za bubnjeve seda iskusni Goja(KAPETAN LESHI, FEAR OF DOG, fanzin BOLJI ŽIVOT). Pomenuti vokalni tandem nije baš imao nekog pevačkog iskustva,što im nije smetalo da se u tome nikada dodatno ne edukuju,ali upravo  njihovim učešćem udahnuta je dodatna doza pozitivnog duha. Kao zvaničan datum rodjenja benda vodi se datum prvog nastupa, 22.05.1989. Put od proba punih dobre zajebancije do lokalnih koncertnih heroja bio je kratak. Krajem '89. bendu se na bubnjevima pridružuje Atzke(FLUOREL TAČKAŠ,ELBA),a svestrani Goja prelazi na gitaru. Početak i uspon Atheist rap-a je neraskidivo vezan za klub ŽUTA KUĆA, gradsku oazu novosadske subkulture,u kojoj su Ateisti vežbali,izlazili,pili,živeli i ostalo,dok je gamad na vlasti nije srušila i izvadila temelje,majku im jebem.
Vihor ratnih sranja sa početka 90-ih bespovratno je odneo prvi kompakt disk izdat na ovim prostorima. Bio je to EP sa 4 pesme pod naslovom KOMPAKT DISK,koji nikada nije došao sa štampe iz Yugotona,te u tom obliku nije ni objavljen. Na prisilu od strane Teče Moralesa(menadžer,gitara,volan) i Gazda-Voje Žugića(za tu priliku SCORNED RECORDS,fanzin TRI DRUGARA) bend odgovara snimaljem debi albuma MAORI I CRNI GONZALES(1993,reizdanje TIOLI 1994.). WARTBURG LIMUZINA i BLU TRABANT su dovezli Ateiste do prvih mesta top-lista,a album je proglašen za album godine 1993. na tada prestižnoj(i jedinoj) manifestaciji Brzi Bendovi Srbije.  "Podzemnim" kanalima album stiže do svih krajeva naše bivše domovine.

U to vreme iz benda odlazi Goja,a petorka Ateista nastavlja da svira svuda gde su to uslovi iole dozvoljavali. Doza bunta i optimizma koju su tada nosili bila je neophodna gologuziji, koju su i sami dostojanstveno predstavljali. Uspeli nastupi i dogodovštine sa putovanja dali su bendu inspiraciju za dalje stvaralaštvo. 1995. izlazi drugi studijski album pod naslovom JA EVENTUALNO BIH AKO NJEGA ELIMINIŠETE (pegepeertees, reizdanje HI-FI RECORDS 1998.),koji ih približava široj publici. Serija dobrih svirki koja je pratila album je zaustavljena zbog Zaretove teške bolesti,sa kojom nije uspeo da se izbori. Preminuo je 14.02.1997. Bend zbija redove i dolazeći do zaključka da samo svirajući mogu oživeti uspomenu na svog drugara nastavlja sa radom. Na mesto basiste dolazi Leki (mladjani veteran iz bendova OVE SEZONE VEDRI TONOVI,TELEGRAM SAM,NAUČNICI,LUNA,LA STRADA,OBOJENI PROGRAM,LOVE HUNTERS,PLAVI PTIČIĆ PREPELIČIĆ,saradjivao sa bendovima RITAM NEREDA,BOYE i Borisom Kovačem,...),koji je u bendu od izdavanja Jebanja po potrebi svirao gitaru ili na basu menjao Zareta,a bend kreće na ranije zakazanu turneju po Sloveniji,gde su svojim fanovima i sebi potvrdili razlog postojanja. Sledi rad na albumu DRUGA LIGA ZAPAD(1998,HI-FI RECORDS),nakon čijeg izdavanja se bendu priključuje Barbun(LOŠ SPOJ,RITAM NEREDA,BOYE). 2000-te godine Ateisti uzimaju učešće u kampanji   VREME JE...IZADJI NA CRTU,koja je za cilj imala da motiviše mlade da izađu na izbore. Oktobra iste godine bend svira u zagrebačkoj MOČVARI, puljanskom ULJANIKU i u riječkom PALAHU.

2001. izlazi kompilacijski album PREDSEDNICI PREDSEDNIŠTVA PREDSEDNIKA (HI-FI REC.) ,koji prati totalna koncertna neaktivnost i nerad. Bend napušta Pećinko,koji je i dalje ostao usko vezan za AR,i Barbun koji se posvetio solo karijeri,dok Radule(BOYE) počinje da svira bas u BONEBREAKER-u. Na mesto Barbuna dolazi Dulles(KNO,MITESERS,OUT OF CONTROL,BONEBREAKER,GBB,BOYE,...),transfuzija sveže krvi preko potrebna  za rađanje mečke koja će postati poznata kao OSVETA CRNOG GONZALESA(MULTIMEDIA RECORDS,2005.),album snimljen u produkciji samog benda,rekordera u disproporciji između utrošenog vremena i efektivnog rada na snimanju i miksanju. Period koji prethodi izdavanju Osvete obeležili su malobrojni nastupi  po festivalima(NISOMNIA,EXIT 03, ZAGREB OPEN AIR,Banja Luka,Sisak,Velika) i klubovima(MOČVARA(Zg), MONTE PARADIZO(Pu),BARAKA(Kutina)), zapaženi kako po maestralnosti i kvalitetu izvedbe,tako i po vešto odglumljenim scenama teškog pijanstva.

U potrazi za adekvatnom zamenom za Teču Moralesa,koji je nakon Jebanja odjezdio u sumrak i svitanje,kao jedini logičan izbor javlja se Zack Bardun(METALNI PECAROŠI),dugogodišnji sidekick fantastične n-torke Ateista,režiser spota ''Novosacki vašar’’,autor stručne studije “PR management za pod miškom”,poliglota, analfabeta,kosmopolita,šahovski komentator,enciklopedija YU-sporta,moralna gromada i prepredeni marveni trgovac prebogatog vokabulara i fascinantne elokvencije,koji svojim samopregornim angažmanom u sferi organizacije koncerata prepunjuje prethodno nastalu rupu i uveliko doprinosi da bendu krene na gore,to jest uzlaznom putanjom.

  Krajem marta 2005. kreću na promotivnu turneju Osvete, i u tridesetak nastupa potvrđuju da nisu tamo neke babe; pedantno osmišljeno predstavaljanje publici uz more specijalnih scenskih efekata, uključujući sve žive scenske efekte, i efekte van scene, izbacilo ih je korak bliže zvezdama, ako ne i baš tu./au, kakva rečenica/ Izdvajaju se prvi Split u karijeri, na tvrđavi Gripe ("hvala ekipi"-kažu iz ekipe), oba koncerta u NS Time-u, gde je publika vozila bend, kao i drugi mini tour po Sloveniji.

 2006.i sedma protichu takodje u živoj koncertnoj aktivnosti,koju prati pažljivo osmišljavanje i snimanje živog nastupa u dvd formatu,čijom će koncertnom promocijom turneja da se nastavi izdavanjem live cd-a,promocijom istog i doživotnim slavljenjem punoletstva. Od pedesetak nastupa u tom periodu izdvajaju se koncert u zagrebačkom «pauku»,splitskoj «kocki»,rodjendanski «rakija-gig» u beogradskom «living room-u»,hardcore performans na «moto-susretu 2007»na Petrovaradinskoj tvrđavi,nastup na «dirty old festival 2007» u Velikoj(uz Nomeansno,izmedju ostalih učesnika jednog od preteranijih festivala na ovim prostorima) i ovacije od strane narajcane publike na «exit 007».

Sve u svemu, nakon 0.17 vekova postojanja, 4 studijska albuma i oko 456 koncerata ATHEIST RAP nastavlja  sa akcijom VAŠ DINAR ZA NAŠ PROSPERITET! I tako do kraja sveta,u utorak 2000 neke.

In order to trace the roots and origins of Atheist Rap, we should go as far as to the 1980s, when several of the future band members were badly infected by an incurable disease of punk. Together with a bunch of their friends they formed Flourel Tatchkash, a band that had ruled the roost across the local gyms, which were often used a concert halls back then. After an endlessly entertaining Rambo Amadeus concert, which took place on 29th November 1988 at the local club named Mašinac, two of the city’s finest freaks, Dr. Pop and Pećinko, propose the formation of Atheist Rap. From  Flourel Tatchkash came Radule (Guitar) and Zare (Bass), and experienced Goja (Kapetan Leshi, Fear of Dog, A Better Life zine) took hold of drums. The previously mentioned vocal duo had no significant experience in singing, and they never made too much effort to become knowledgeable about it, but it was their participation that instilled the additional dose of positive spirit into the band. An official date of birth of the group is the day of their first performance, i.e. 22nd May 1989. It didn’t take long for the band members to become local concert heroes. At the end of 1989, drummer Atzke (Flourel Tatchkash, Elba) joins the group and versatile Goja switches to guitar. The rise of Atheist Rap is unbreakably linked to the club called Žuta Kuća (The Yellow House), the oasis of Novi Sad’s subculture, where the Atheists rehearsed, spent their time, drinking and practically living, until local bastards in power, i.e. local authorities  pulled it down.  

The whirlwind of war at the beginning of the 90s blew off the chance of releasing the first CD ever in this area. It was a 4-song EP named Compact Disc that Yugoton never put out of press, and, as a result of this, the material was never released in this format. It was at the insisting of Tetcha Morales (manager, guitar, wheels) and Voja Zugic (Scorned Records, Three pals zine) that the band recorded their debut album Maori i Crni Gonzales (1993, reissued in 1994 by TIOLI). Wartburg Limousine and Blue Trabant, which emerged as two main ultimate hits from the album, drove Atheists to the top of the charts, and the band received the album of the year award at Brzi Bendovi Srbije, a prestigious (if not only) manifestation of the time. By means of ‘underground’ channels the album reached every corner of their former homeland.

At that time, Goja leaves the group, while the other five members continue to play wherever it is possible. A dose of rebellion and optimism that they possessed was necessary back then for the chaotic, impoverished country, which they themselves represented with dignity. Successful performances and numerous interesting events from their tour journeys gave the band the inspiration for creative work in the days to come. In 1995 the second studio album is released, entitled Ja Eventualno Bih Ako Njega Eliminišete (PGP RTS, reissued by Hi-Fi Records in 1998), which brings them closer to a wider audience. A series of successful concerts, which followed the release of the album, was suddenly brought to a halt due to Zare’s severe illness, from which he didn’t manage to recover. He passed away on 14th February 1997. The band closed their ranks and, reaching the conclusion that only by performing live could they revive the memory of their late friend, went on working. The position of bass player was permanently taken by Leki (a ‘young veteran’ that played in OVE SEZONE VEDRI TONOVI, TELEGRAM SAM, NAUČNICI, LUNA, LA STRADA, OBOJENI PROGRAM, LOVE HUNTERS, PLAVI PTIČIĆ PREPELIČIĆ, worked along with RITAM NEREDA, BOYE and Boris Kovatch,...), who had already been working with the group from the release of JEBANJE, playing guitar whenever the need arose and replacing Zare on bass guitar. The band sets off on a previously arranged tour of Slovenia, where they showed both their fans and themselves that they had a reason to be. After this, they started working a new album, entitled DRUGA LIGA ZAPAD (1998,HI-FI RECORDS); on its release, Barbun (LOSH SPOJ, RITAM NEREDA, BOYE) joins the band. In the year 2000 Atheists took part in a campaign VREME JE...IZADJI NA CRTU (The time has come…Let’s see what you’ve got), whose aim was to motivate young people to go to the polls. In October of the same year band plays at Močvara (Zagreb), Uljanik (Pula) and Palah (Rijeka). 2001 sees the release of the compilation entitled PREDSEDNICI PREDSEDNIŠTVA PREDSEDNIKA (HI-FI REC.), which is followed by a complete lack of concert activities. Pećinko leaves the group, remaining closely connected with AR, and so does Barbun, who dedicated himself to a solo career, while Radule starts playing the bass guitar in BONEBREAKER. Barbun's place is taken by Dulles (KNO, MITESERS, OUT OF CONTROL, BONEBREAKER, GBB, BOYE,...), a much-needed transfusion of fresh blood for the birth of OSVETA CRNOG GONZALESA (MULTIMEDIA RECORDS,2005.), the album that was recorded and produced by the band itself. The period of time before the release of OSVETA was marked by several festival performances (NISOMNIA,EXIT 03, ZAGREB OPEN AIR,Banja Luka,Sisak,Velika…) and club concerts (MOČVARA(Zg), MONTE PARADIZO(Pu),BARAKA(Kutina)…), noted not only for brilliant musical performances, but also for skillfully acts of heavy drunkenness.

In the search for someone good enough to step in for Techa Morales, who rode into the dusk and dawn after the release of Jebanje, we came with an ultimate solution to call Zack Bardun ( METAL ANGLERS) who had been a longterm sidekick of an indefinite number of Atheist Rap crew, and had also been a director of the video »Novi Sad Fair«, the author of the expertise »PR manager under arm«, a polyglote, an illerate person, a cosmopolitan, a chess commentator, a living encyclopedia of Yugoslav sport, an ethic giant and a cunning beast of burden trader of an exquisite level of eloquence, who with his persistant involvement in the field of concert organizing overfills the pre-existing hole and contributes to the band rise.

By the end of March, 2005, they set off on the promotion tour of OSVETA, showing by some thirty concerts that they are still standing. Thouroughly envisaged performances with numerous special stage effects, including live effects on and off stage, places them higher to the stars (if not really there), /what a phrase!/  The significant performances are their first concert in Split on the fortress of Gripe, both concerts at NS Time club, where the audience ruled the performance, as well as a mini Slovenia tour. 

All in all, after 0.17 century of their existence, 4 studio albums and an average of 456 concerts, ATHEIST RAP continues the project YOUR MONEY FOR OUR PROSPERITY! ...and so on and so forth! Until a Tuesday, the year 2000 and something.
